We get back to Cambridge in time to volunteer at the 40th CAMRA beer festival! Well, TRY to volunteer. Andrew and I sample some pints, Amanda discovers the wonderful world of mead, and all of us stuff our faces full of food.
Also, the DAAAAAAAAHK mead.
Do they get the concept of “salad” in the UK??? Food looks dodgy (or is that stodgy?). The theme of your videos is ultimately “beer” Luke, and I am now a connoisseur of such given that I can finally drink the stuff after having travelled to Asia 3 times and realised it was the cheapest and most successful liquid to beat the heat π
We’ve had some very nice salads here, but not at the beer festival! There it was all about deliciously unhealthy foods. π Some fantastic cheeses – would have gone better with wine, I’ll admit, but there was too much beer to sample to switch to wine! Amanda doesn’t like beer and realised the same thing – that it’s generally cheaper and the most common form of alcohol. She’s tried to get used to it, but unfortunately still hates the taste. The downside to beer (and eating all that cheese) is the little belly you get at the end of it – will have to find a way to rectify that after this trip!
I’m going to have to write a post about the food in England sometime… when I came here 10 years ago it was awful, but now they do fresh, fantastic produce just as well as Australia – and cheaper most of the time. I’ve even my bodyweight in blueberries and raspberries since we first got here to make up for never being able to afford them at home;).
