In this episode we participate in what many said was the highlight of their tour through Africa – trekking in to a national park to get up close to gorillas. We felt so lucky to see this family interact, particularly the youngsters who were extremely rambunctious! We can all highly recommend this experience if you ever get the chance!

Wow! It’s amazing that you can get that close, and are allowed to. What a fantastic experience.
They’re so used to people now that it doesn’t disturb them, and the money brought in by tourists helps keep both them and the park protected. I heard that on rare occasions they would even come up closer and interact with people, but in general I think the guides keep you at a distance that would discourage that. Either way, as you said, a fantastic experience!
